Email Subject: Storms a Coming....

Dear Friends,

For the last several days the forecaster's have been predicting another wintry blast of snow, wind and extremely cold temperature's for our part of the World.  Looking out at from my office window, it has hit Kearney.  Seems like the storms this winter aren't going to end any time soon.

No matter where we look around us Christians are going through all kinds of (storms) pressures, hardships and heartache abound, the storms of life just keep coming and it doesn't appear they will end anytime soon either.  When we face life's storms, you know the personal kind, what are we to do as Christ followers?

I have found great encouragement in opening up each day by reading a portion of the Psalms along with my other Bible reading.  I have found great comfort, strength, solace and peace in learning more and more from what the Psalmist had to say about God, life and the handling the storms we will all face.  Read with me from Psalm 46:1, 2, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and through the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.."

Friends, who and what we seek refuge in will mark the difference in how we handle life's perplexing issues.  The Psalmist teaches us that God, the Covenant keeping, dependable, refuge is worthy to run to and seek protection and peace in.  When we do that note what else happens, we are strengthened to face life's hardships and trials, for He not only is our "REFUGE" but our "STRENGTH."  We find all we need in Him power wise to face the struggles of life for He has given us "everything necessary for life and godliness."  I like that truth don't you.

Friends, no matter what the storms of life are that you are facing, or even if at this time in your life there is relative peace and quiet in your life.  This wonderful truth from the Psalms are great for us.

Have a great day friends no matter how cold, windy or snowy it becomes both on the outside and inside of our life.  We will when we seek our refuge and strength in and from Him!

Your friend,

Pastor Doug
